There was also a difference between the open procedures of resection with anastomosis and reconstruction with expansion grafting procedures (32% vs. 38%, P < .001; 89% vs. 83%, P < .001) (Fig. 2). The pooled outcomes of etiology of stenosis on addi- tional surgery received/performed and decannulation rates was as follows: traumatic 54% (95% CI: 35%-73%)

and 78% (95% CI: 61%-89%); intubation/tracheostomy 35% (95% CI: 25%-47%) and 88% (95% CI: 79%-94%); and idiopathic 25% (95% CI: 16%-36%) and 63% (95% CI: 40%-81%) (Table III). There was a significant differ- ence in additional surgery received/performed for trau- matic cause of stenosis and idiopathic stenosis (54% vs. 25%, P 5 .02) as well as intubation/tracheostomy and idi- opathic stenosis (35% vs. 25%, P < .01), but there was no
