Things to Watch Out For
• Tester may be seen or heard by patient • Body movements/ facial expressions by tester may cue the patient • Body movements by patient may impede accurate listening
• Tinnitus is sometimes louder in sound booth • Try to avoid falling into a "rhythm" with testing

Pure Tone Vs. Warbled Tone • Can use pure tone or warbled tone for accurate results • Often preferable to use warbled tone if patient has tinnitus • One common type of warbled tone is "FM noise" • May also use "Pediatric" tone

Pure Tone Average
• Represents the average threshold for 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, 2,000 Hz • 3,000 Hz may be included for more accurate average • Should be in agreement with Speech Recognition Threshold (SRT)
