2010: Boston, Massachusetts, September 26-29 2011: San Francisco, California, September 11-14 The Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association named the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO as one of the top 100 medical meetings worldwide. The August 2007 announcement noted the Foundation meeting as one of “the class of bellwether events that define patient therapy in its discipline.” To further elevate the program that was recently awarded, in 2009 the Annual Meeting Subspecialty Society Work Group was created at the direction of the SSAC to explore opportunities to work toward increased integration of the many events held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting.

2011: Otolaryngology for the PA-C, the first otolaryngology conference for physician

Noting the increased value of the global otolaryngology community convening at the Annual Meeting, Dr. Miyamoto said in the May 2007 Bulletin , “International outreach, worldwide collaboration, and exchange of information and education are the goals for the international program of the Academy and Foundation. 2011: Women in Otolaryngology (WIO) became a Section in May 2011. In December 2010, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the transition of the Women in Otolaryngology (WIO) Committee to full Section status. During the 2011 Annual Meeting, WIO held their annual Luncheon/General Assembly for the first time as a Section and featured Nancy L. Snyderman, MD, as guest speaker.

1. Nancy L. Snyderman, MD, gave a keynote speech that encouraged the WIO to continue to pursue gender equality in the specialty. 2. Inaugural WIO Governing Council Members at the 2011 meeting. 3-4.
