Chapter 5: 2017 – 2021

Some of the highlights from this timeframe included:

2020

Unveiled OTO Logic, a successor to AcademyU® as the AAO-HNSF online education platform to reflect the growing network of digital products. From 2019 – 2020 there was a 614% surge in enrollments in online courses.

Launched FLEX, the new flagship education product developed to replace the Home Study Course that was retired in August after more than three decades. More than 130 Foundation education faculty participated in curriculum development training.

During its inaugural year—launching in September 2020, the program had almost 3,500 subscribers, including more than 1,000 residents. It focused on delivering knowledge, education, clinical tools, and professional support to the otolaryngology community in a way that could be applied directly to practice and patient care using innovative and cutting-edge education technology.

Continued ABOHNS initiatives to support CERTLink TM and rebuild the Self-Assessment Models (SAMS) to offer CME that counts for MOC as a newly launched AAO-HNSF series titled, “Otolaryngology Patient Scenarios.”

OTOQuest ? KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT TOOL

Reinvented AcademyQ TM to become OTO Quest SM Knowledge Assessment , with nearly 1,200 case-based questions with rationales fully integrated into OTO Logic.

“There have been significant changes in the delivery of medical education over the past several years. The demand for new formats and more varied options is higher than ever. It is important for the Foundation to embrace these changes, develop new, innovative education modalities, and keep pace with advancing eLearning technologies.”
