2010
Otolaryngology for the PA-C, the first otolaryngology conference for physician assistants and nurse practitioners was jointly held by the AAO-HNSF, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society for Physician Assistants in Otolaryngology in February 2011, in Atlanta, GA.
The AAO-HNS participated in the Surgical Coalition, a group of approximately 20 organizations representing over 240,000 surgeons and anesthesiologists. The Coalition emerged as a collective voice for America’s surgeons.

In December 2010, the Board of Directors
The AAO-HNSF’s Continuing Medical Education program received a four-year reaccreditation by ACCME.
unanimously approved the transition of the Women
in Otolaryngology (WIO) Committee to full Section status. During the 2011 Annual Meeting, WIO held the annual Luncheon/General Assembly for the first time as a Section and featured Nancy L. Snyderman, MD, as guest speaker.
The OTO Advocacy Summit was combined with the Board of

Governors (BOG) and AAO-HNS/F Boards of Directors spring meetings. It was held May 7-8, 2012. The BOG Spring Meeting & OTO Advocacy Summit took place May 6-8, 2012.
The Harry Barnes Society Endowment for Resident Leadership was launched.
The first Global Health Symposium was held during the Annual Meeting and featured speakers from Australia, Germany, Haiti, New Zealand, Serbia, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe.
The Academy joined the Choosing Wisely® campaign and partnered with other medical societies to improve patient health and identify and reduce waste in the healthcare system.
The Annual Meeting had several firsts that were debuted for attendees.
2013
Capitalizing on the success of the OTO Advocacy Summit held in conjunction with leadership meetings of the AAO-HNS/F Boards of Directors and AAO-HNS Board of Governors, the meeting transitioned in 2014 to the AAO-HNS/F Leadership Forum & BOG Spring Meeting.
2014
1) Gregory W. Randolph, MD, Coordinator for International Affairs, and Susan R. Cordes, MD, WIO Section Chair, launched a first time International Women’s Caucus, inviting women presidents and secretaries-general of the International Corresponding Societies to confer with Academy women leaders. 2) It was the first Annual Meeting that offered a new International Assembly as part of the Academy’s continued global outreach. 3) For the first time, several education sessions were offered to the Latin American otolaryngology community via live broadcast webinars with a reach to more than 250 participants in 20 countries.
The Young Physicians Committee was transitioned into the Young Physicians Section (YPS).
The AAO-HNSF Board of Directors approved the development of a clinical data registry for otolaryngology-head and neck surgery to allow an organized system of data collection, storage, and dissemination for research and quality reporting. This registry now operates as Reg-ent and integrates a variety of data, including specialty-specific measures and patient-reported outcomes measures (PROMs) into a powerful platform both for members and industry partners.
2015
The AAO-HNSF was awarded the distinction of Accreditation with Commendation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). This status, which was only awarded to a fraction of all organizations who seek to become accredited, represented acknowledgment of a program that delivers the highest quality of practice relevant, physician-focused education.
The Clinical Consensus Statement (CCS) Development Manual was published. (The name change from CCSs to Expert Consensus Statements was approved in 2020.)
