CMS’s plan would reduce access to same-day care

What’s at stake: Starting in January 2027, CMS proposes to pay 100% for the highest valued service when certain office visits and procedures occur on the same day—and just 50% for each additional applicable service. AAO-HNS, the world’s largest professional association for otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons, surveyed its 13,000 members on the potential impact on physicians and patients who need ear, nose, and throat care.
