Medium Used The Home Study Course is available in electronic or print format. The activity includes a review of outcome objectives, selected scientific literature, and a self-assessment examination. Method of Physician Participation in the Learning Process The physician learner will read the selected scientific literature, reflect on what they have read, and complete the self-assessment exam. After completing this section, participants should have a greater understanding of trauma and critical care medicine as well as useful information for clinical application. Accreditation Statement The American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO-HNSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation The AAO-HNSF designates this enduring material for 40.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) ™. Physicians should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. ALL PARTICIPANTS must achieve a post-test score of 70% or higher for a passing completion to be recorded and a transcript to be produced. Residents’ results will be provided to the Training Program Director. PHYSICIANS ONLY : In order to receive Credit for this activity a post-test score of 70% or higher is required. Two retest opportunities will automatically be available if a minimum of 70% is not achieved. [1] A “Commercial interest” is any entity producing, marketing, re-selling, or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients. 2 “Conflict of interest” is defined as any real or potential situation that has competing professional or personal interests that would make it difficult to be unbiased. Conflicts of interest occur when an individual has an opportunity to affect education content about products or services of a commercial interest with which they have a financial relationship.
