across the studies support the overall findings of the qualita tive and quantitative analyses. The follow-up periods were underreported or variable and limit the ability to determine the longevity of the effects of medialization procedures on dysphagia. Also of note, while LR is an exciting treatment option to restore glottal competence in UVFI and improve dysphagia, there was unfortunately insufficient data on LR to include it in the quantitative analysis. Despite these limita tions, it is reassuring that there was a consistent positive trend of improvement in dysphagia outcomes following procedures to improve glottal competence in UVFI. Conclusion A majority of patients with UVFI who undergo surgical media lization show improvement in subjective and objective dyspha gia outcomes and have a low risk of complications regardless of procedure. Future investigations may further characterize the extent of objective improvement postoperatively and distin guish outcomes based on etiology and duration of UVFI.
